a moment of thanks
on gratitude.
We wanted to share a handful of thank-you-notes we have pinned to a corkboard in our break area. These notes give our team warm fuzzies & we simply must spread the love. We can't say it enough - we love running the Dye Lot of the Month and we love that you love it, too!
A spin off of our Community Indigo Vat, we now offer a small batch dye service of rotating a color dye bath to help members of our community keep garments in their wardrobe and out of landfills. Each month, there will be a new dye recipe.
NEW! We have just introduced a new option for this service, Small Items! This will offer a lower price for dyeing items that weigh less than ¼ pound. Think silk scarves, camisoles, light tote bags, tank tops and baby clothing. Please note that if you select this, but your item is significantly over ¼ pound, we will reach out with an invoice to pay for a full sized item.
This month we are launching 3 entirely new colors!
Clay is dyed with cutch
Coffee Bean is dyed with cutch and chestnut, a warm version of our Natural Black
Moss is dyed with pomegranate peels and chestnut. Our product photo features garments from our friends Faanware (Moss shirt) and Four Objects (Moss trousers).
These colors will be available to anyone who purchases the service while these colors are live on the site (if they are up, they are available). Garments will be shipped back to you around the end of the following month.
A shipping fee will be applied at check out, and one of our team members will reach out to make you a shipping label and leave instructions for how/where to drop off the shipment. Labels are emailed Weekdays between 9AM-4PM Eastern.
First time ordering? Please scroll to the bottom of our product page to read our terms and conditions, which outline more about what to expect from this service.

This is a moment to share the wealth of gratitude we feel toward everyone in our community. Whether you are on the ground fighting for the future of slow fashion, or simply curious about how to revive the color of your favorite faded chambray, we are so grateful to have you here with us. The past two years have been a labyrinth of challenges for small businesses, including those of us trying to show the world that alternative business models exist and succeed.
Our mission has always been to be a solution to the problem of pollution in the textile industry, and to uplift the tradition of American manufacturing. It has brought us tremendous pleasure to shift from a commercial model to a community model, and expand our capacity for dyeing individual garments for you & me & everyone we know. Why? Because we've been blown away by the continued support of our community, our shared values, and your desire to hear our story.
Green Matters is not only an advocate for plant dye as an alternative to synthetic dyes, but an advocate for resourcefulness and collaboration, camaraderie and care.
It might go without saying but we could not do this without you. It takes a community to fill a dye machine. In fact, it takes a community to do just about anything.
So we want to say thank you. Thank you for the continued support, for the thank you notes, kind reviews, heartfelt comments, and more. Running a factory is a wild ride and we're happy to have you right there with us.
It's like you know us or something. Flowers, manufacturing, and more flowers - that's Green Matters in a nut shell. It's hard to believe our community services all began at an indigo vat - but then again, that's where Green Matters was born. I think they call that coming full circle.
Thank you again for being part of our story and for helping us do what we do.
